Bob van Asperen is professor of harpsichord and basso continuo at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, the Academy of Baroque Music St. Petersburg and the summer courses at the Piccola Accademia di Montisi in Tuscany. Since many years he gives recitals all over the world having made around 70 solo recordings on CD with works by J.S. Bach – Ciaccona, the Inventions, The Welltempered Clavier, the Concertos for 1-4 harpsichords, the Toccatas – C.P.E. Bach, Frescobaldi, Scarlatti, Händel, François and Louis Couperin, John Bull… Many of these productions received awards like theDeutsche Schallplattenpreis, Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik, Edison Award, Ondas de Musica and several times Diapason d’Or.
At this moment he is recording the complete works of Johann Jacob Froberger on historical harpsichords and organs for AEOLUS. Several volumes of this Froberger Edition received a Diapason d’Or or «Dix du Répertoire»: Volume nr. 7, ‘Capriccio’ received the German Record Critics’ Award 2011 as the only production in its genre.Also recently issued are the French Suites by J.S. Bach on a harpsichord by Christian Vater, 1738 and the first two volumes of the Louis Couperin Edition, the complete CD recording of Louis Couperin on historic instruments. On this production magazine Répertoire wrote: “…émouvants points de rencontre entre un musicien génial et un interprète visionaire”.
